Training

Monthly Training $1100.00

Here at St. Francis, we specialize in the unique requirement of the Friesian Horse and have a complete, evidenced based scientific approach to provide the best training experience that gives an outcome that produces a healthy and fulfilled equine partner. Young horses are started at the age of 3 years and need a minimum of 6 months to start them under saddle. While other trainers may do this in 30 days or even 90 days, we specialized in a healthy equine partner that does not leave the equine open to early stress or injury. We recommend a minimum of three months with evaluation and then continuing to the 6 month mark.

We use classic riding methods. All horses receive full board that includes, bathings, blanketing, conditioning through quality nutrition and fresh clean water and stalls and paddocks cleaned daily. All horses are on a three day one and two day off schedule in rotation to bring about the best fitness in the Friesian Horse according to the parameters set by the KFPS. If you have questions about our program, please feel free to give us a call at 916-532-6622.

Horses are exercised and prepared for the event through specialized nutrition, presentation practice with runners, full bathing , coat conditioning and careful management of mane, tail and feathers.

Mare Care and Foaling

Mare Care  and Boarding                                                            $1500.00

Mares are suggested to arrive at the barn two months prior to foaling.  Please contact our trainer at 916-532-6622 if you have questions about this time frame.  All mares are housed in the barn and receive daily turn-out exercise, weekly grooming and weekly bathing in preparation for their foals.  Stalls are monitored 24/7 and mares are checked twice daily for paturation changes.  Mares are fed three times daily and are given grain that you provide plus rice bran for their digestive tracts.  Stalls are foal safe, have emergency lighting, rubber matted with shavings, bedding is changed to straw approx. three days prior to foaling.

Foaling assistance is $100.00 per hour if needed.  One hour minimum. We are experienced with malpositions and have a highly trained veterinary reproductive team as our barn doctors.  Additional help with nursing, medications and injections is also available.  Mares are ready to go home with foals at 2 weeks or can remain for insemination here and go home the following month after foaling.  The choice is yours.

Daily Fees for breeding or short stays. $60 a day wet, $40.00 a day dry.
